Utilities Meet – Passivhaus Killearn

Routine meeting held with utility providers (Scottish Water, Scottish and Southern Energy) and civil contractors to discuss the coordination for the installation of gas, electricity, water and sewers.

Key aspects of this meeting were:

  • planning of trench excavation across a main road with minimum disruption and best use of available resources
  • this requires input from council traffic management to coordinate traffic lighting
  • review of technical aspects such as distance between utility trenches, specification of conduit tubing, gradient and depth
  • practical considerations such as tree root protection

This could have been organised without our services by arranging connections direct with the providers.   However if this approach had been adopted total cost would have been over 10,000 pounds and resulted in three separate trenches across a main road.

By using our project management approach we are saving over 5,000 pounds, creating less disruption for the community, less CO2.
